Forza Motorsport 3 vs Forza Motorsport 2 comparison

Suzuka F430 showdown

Comparison: Forza Motorsport 3 - Xbox 360 vs Xbox 360

After our earlier Forza 3 vs. GT5:P comparison, we’ve knocked up a quick comparison between Forza 3 and Forza 2.

Same rules apply: same circuit, same car, same positions, same resolution (1280x720), same capture equipment. Even the 360 used to play the two games is the same. Forza 3’s on the left, Forza 2 on the right.

There’s no prizes for guessing which is better – Forza 3. The shadowing is much more prominent, and the backgrounds far more visible. You can also make out the detail of structures from further away.

The biggest improvement is the lighting on the cars, which looks far more natural in Forza 3. This is demonstrated much better when you see the two games moving, but you can get a feel for it in these shots.

You’ll also notice that much of the modelling and some of the textures looks like it’s been carried over as well, we assume to save development costs. Forza 2 also appears a little less jagged than its successor.

Be that as it may, Forza 3 is still a sizable step up from its predecessor.

So there you are: Forza 3 looks better than Forza 2. Hardly surprising, but the point of this is to show how much better and in what areas improvements have been made. Keep that in mind if you find yourself compelled to add a comment below.
