Following on from our Forza 3 Vs Gran Turismo 5 Prologue comparison gallery, comes two annotated versions of our original shots from reader-turned-submitter 'Flanker22'.
He, like many of you, took issue with our verdict of the games' respective graphics and posted up some heavily annotated screenshots in the comments section for the original article, explaining why he believes it's actually Forza 3 that emerges the more graphically victorious title.
We welcome this sort of thing - it's actually this sort of debate that's the reason why we do comparison galleries at all. Not to, as some of you have suggested, show some sort of bias towards PS3 (which we don't - we happily give Sony a hard time too).
Anyway, as we say, we welcome feedback and debate, so here's Flanker22's annotations. If you agree, or disagree, with this, sign up and tell us all about it.
Thanks, Flanker22

Spin it all u like, but the car model and lighting in GT5:P looks much more realistic than forza's. And as for 'low quality' backdrop/skybox....really???? i think not :/
And to add to it '1280x1080 with 16 cars on screen' :D

Again, this is the mastery of Polyphony Digital to use cheap techniques to make their graphics look better than they actually are. They use great lighting and depth-of-field effects to make things look real, but without and ACTUAL good graphics.

Fake reflections, 2D mountain? Did you even play GT5P? Cause that is factually incorrect...
Jesus those annotations stink of bias... Can't believe this was actually posted here...

I say a REAL comparison cannot be made until both games are fully complete and released.
GT5 has my money though for sure. Quantity or Quality? Why choose when you can have both :).

K, First of all, that screen shot is taken from The Granturismo Hd Demo, I know that cause its the same Picture I used to have on my computer at work almost 3 years ago, its not even from the Prologue Demo for Jesus, Thats like
Pitting up Forza 2 against GT5 Finish Product.
This is Complete BS to cater to everyone who complained about the Gt5 beta Screens Vs Forza almost finished Product screens, and to get people to sign up by playing them off each other. lol
LOW ... Very Low.

Flanker22 took the shots from our original comparison gallery. We captured all the shots from Prologue, not HD.
Feel free to look for yourself: http://www.gameswire.net/comparisons/forza-motorsport-3-vs-gran-turismo-5-prologue-comparison_31.html
You'll see that many shots clearly say "Prologue" in them.

Here again for everybody, he called the reflections in GT5P fake, while here in this shot you can clearly see that the mountains are reflected:
http://www.tagames.net/screenshotscap/comparativaforzagt/gt/ferrari/ferrari2.jpg
Then he goes on saying there is no background shading whatsoever which is again wrong as seen in these shots of the same track:

http://images.gamersyde.com/image_gran_turismo_5_prologue-7188-1316_0019.jpg
In his comparison there is also background shading, but harder to notice because of the positioning of the trees etc and the sun direction. Of course there is some shading missing, but let me tell you that no game has 100% correct shading, they all cheat and leave a lot out.
As for his "low quality skybox" statement, since when make more clouds a "high detail skybox"? It's just another weather, doesn't mean it's low quality.:

Finally let me say a thing about his "extremely detailed textures" statement. If Forza 3 has more detailed textures, how come even in the shots he compared, the road looks like a blurry painting in Forza 3? Sorry, but something went terribly wrong here.

The 2D workarounds used in GT5P are obvious compared to the FM3 stuff, it's true. But it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with using a skybox to save some polys.
Some of the issues are also caused by what appears to be a slightly desaturated palette in GT5P. Shading isn't as deep, colours are slightly washed out. That said, I still think the edges of the road look more natural in GT5.
The only decent comparisons will come when both full versions are out. I'm sure we'll see some areas where each developer has decided to focus on a feature they thought was important while the other didn't. But until then this is just feeding an unnecessary fanboy flamewar.

"And the results speak for themselves. Forza 3 clearly manages to pack in much more trackside detail than Prologue can; but Prologue is much more polished, and hence, more pleasing to the eye.
The colours are much more subtle, and the shading and lighting gives Prologue’s cars a smoother and more realistic appearance. Even the driver modelling and animation is better in Prologue – even though this doesn’t quite come through in the shots.
What’s also clear when seeing both in motion is how much smoother Prologue is. Everything in Forza 3 is much more jagged than Prologue, to the point where some shimmering can be noticed in the 360 game."
