Kojima Productions' next-generation Fox Engine will be shown on August 30, Hideo Kojima has announced - potentially revealing Metal Gear Solid 5.

Reflecting on the 25 year anniversary of Metal Gear, Kojima said that his team's upcoming engine was "nearly finished, but the only way to be sure it works is to create a game at the same time and improve the engine with our tools as we go along."

"Originally we were going to do this for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, but a lot happened along the way and instead it is being made with the engine they have at Platinum Games," Kojima continued.

"Production studios in Japan are nearly extinct, a fact that we have recognized for nearly 10 years, and although the Fox Engine is not finished we are ready to show what it can do… on August 30th in Japan to be more specific."

Kojima's comments suggest that the engine may be shown off alongside a brand new game. It's also been reported that the Fox Engine has been designed for next-generation consoles.

Kojima has previously revealed that Metal Gear Solid 5 will be developed using Fox Engine.

Could an official announcement of Metal Gear Solid 5 be due next month?

Earlier this month, 'leaked' images portraying to be of Metal Gear Solid 5 hit the net. Kojima later confirmed the images were fakes.
